AutoCAD users can work now with native 3D models in other CAD systems. 3D models created in CATIA, Pro/E, UGS, SolidWorks and SolidEdge can be easily imported into AutoCAD and Inventor using 3DTransVidia.
Reuse of CAD data is a common practice in the automotive manufacturing community. The original designs are provided to suppliers involved in e.g. mould and tooling design. The tooling design is created in AutoCAD or Inventor using the native model as reference. The model quality is maintained in the translation process using 3D TransVidia highly robust healing and repair technology. A model defined as solid in the native CAD system remains solid in the AutoCAD and Inventor, making the most complex CAD operations such as model rescaling fully possible. |
